    MUSIC

Head of Department - Emma-Jane Tkaczuk

KS3

All pupils study music for one hour a week. The Teaching is based around the practical activities of performing, composing, listening and appraising tasks combined with regular assessments and singing activities.

All pupils are given the opportunity to sing and play instruments in the classroom. They are expected to compose and perform music on their own and in pairs as well as in small groups. Most projects last between 4-6 weeks and are assessed in terms of standard and effort. National Curriculum levels are awarded half-termly as well as the department also having its own marking scheme for continuous assessment. More able pupils are stretched by differentiated tasks being worked into each project.
